Hello readers and bloggers.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games break sales records

The new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games have broken sales records.

Nintendo has revealed that the games have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide in the first three days of their launch.

This means the games have officially broken the record for the “highest global sales level for any software on any Nintendo platform within the first three days”.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is the first mainline game to take place in the ‘open world’ meaning players can choose what they want to do.

The games have already beaten Pokémon Sword and Shield’s record, which sold six million copies in its opening few days when it launched in 2019.

If Pokémon Scarlet and Violet continue on this path, it means they could become the highest-selling Nintendo games of all time.

But they would have to beat some pretty tough competition from other Nintendo games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons (40 million copies) and Mario Cart 8 Deluxe, which sold a whopping 48 million copies!

Crab shells to be used for batteries

Scientists want to use a chemical found in crab shells to make batteries more sustainable.

Based in Maryland USA, scientists have developed batteries that use a product derived from crustacean shells to store energy.

Crustaceans such as crabs, shrimps, and lobsters have exoskeletons made of cells that contain chitin. This is a kind of polysaccharide that makes their shells hard and resistant.

The scientists found that a battery made with this product is 99.7% energy efficient even after 1,000 battery cycles, which is about 400 hours. This means they can be quickly charged and discharged without significantly affecting their performance.

Finally, the batteries are not flammable and two-thirds of the battery made of chitosan can break down in soil thanks to microbial degradation in just five months, leaving behind recyclable zinc.

NASA cancels moon flight

Nasa has had to delay the launch of its new Artemis I Moon rocket – for the second time in a week.

The test flight was called off because of a liquid hydrogen leak.

NASA first tried to launch the rocket – known as the Space Launch System (SLS) – on Monday but canceled that launch just 40 minutes before lift-off because of engine problems.

Engineers now want to inspect the rocket. They will carry out any repairs that need to happen in the workshop rather than on the launch pad. This means we may not see a third launch attempt before next month.

Why was the flight canceled?

NASA’s latest Moon rocket is the biggest and most powerful rocket ever developed.

It will be used to send astronauts and their equipment back to the Moon.

Much of the SLS’s enormous power comes from burning almost three MILLION liters of super-cold liquid hydrogen and oxygen in four big engines.

But when engineers start to fill up the rocket’s hydrogen tank, an alarm went off, which showed that there was a leak.
